West Indies in India 2018-# 3

So the West Indies managed to tie the second one day International. Let's hope they have better luck in the remaining three Internationals and the 20/20 matches. I have always maintained that the West Indies do not have a batting problem. They have a bowling problem. Nevertheless we need to produce some world class bowlers and some batsmen. By the way it seems as if Jamaica is being sidestepped by International Cricket. How can we hope to develop our young cricketers when they are continually starved of the chance to play International cricket before their home crown.

Bubbles’ Baby by Austin Mitchell As I drove into Creighton on my way to Latore’s Ridge a young lady waved me down. When I stopped the car and she came up to it, I recognized her as ‘Bubbles’ Kenton, one of my former students. “Teacher, can I beg you a ride to Rennals?” “Sure, Bubbles, get in.” I opened the car door for her and she got in. She had a young baby with her, but I noticed that she didn’t have a bag, although the baby was wrapped in a towel. “Your first baby, Bubbles?” I asked as I drove off the car. “He’s Leta’s baby, teacher. I don’t have any children yet. She’s gone for an interview in Kingston so she begged me to keep him for her.” I used to teach both Bubbles and Leta at Mc Cauley High School in Oakley district. How about a creative writers conference? This would bring together some of Jamaica's best creative writers to share ideas. I'm putting it out there because as far as I know there is not a lot going for creative writers. Can anybody make a living out of creative writing in Jamaica?
