Norris tricked his friend, Clement and made off with his portion of the money they had found buried in a hole in the woods of Lobban's Ridge. But Norris didn't know that what he had just done had put him on the wrong side of two of the most dangerous men on the island. The money he had found and made off with was being escorted to the bank by a company owned by an ex-policeman, Johny Evans, with a reputation as a killer both inside and outside the force. The men who had held up the armored carrier belonged to the Joe Coleman gang, a man reputed to be a cold blooded killer.
