Uptown Lovers (New)

I have revised Uptown Lovers and given it a brand new cover. I knew that my books could do much better with professional help. I still get a few sales. I need help to edit my works also to format it and do a professional book cover. I currently have two plays in the works.

Undercover Soldier(New)

Undercover Soldier is not very popular. It is not selling. As I wrote earlier I did a lot of changes to the book. It was much more palatable. There was much less killing. I think that the book was much more plausible. I urge readers to go out and get a copy. It will make good reading.

How I Write

Nowadays I write mostly for Create Space, Amazon and Amazon. I can't say that I'm making a lot of money. I'm not well known and in any case I just have a few books published. I like the freedom I get to create my own books. I do a lot of research on my books. I put my books through a grammar and spelling checker. I also have an online program that reads back the book to me line by line. I'll continue to write, maybe one day I'll write bestseller.

Syd Bethune 2

Syd had an intense love affair with a young lady he met at the library. The affair continued for three months. One day, Arlene confessed that she was going to the States to visit her real boyfriend. She assured Syd that he was the one she loved and she would soon return. A month after Arlene left Jamaica, Syd received a letter. Arlene was in fact married. She had gone up to be with her husband. Syd's head was hung low for days. He then got the bright idea that he too wanted to leave Jamaica. To his rescue came Darla Lecky. She responded to his letter when she advertised for a pen pal. In  a matter of months Syd was in the States and married to Darla. He brought her to Jamaica and we all congratulated the happy couple. Of course we did not know of the troubles that lay ahead. Darla had a baby boy about a year late and then we heard that Syd had been shot dead in New York. The full details are still unclear to us.

SYD BETHUNE

My friend, Syd Bethune did two stints at a branch of the same bank. I first met him at the library. We first met there in the early eighties. He was a lowly paid clerk at a government institution. He always complained about the low pay he was getting. He revealed to us that he used to work at a bank. He told us that he was forced to leave the bank after a big quarrel with a supervisor. He used to do several things that made us suspicious as to the real reasons why he was forced to leave the bank. For example when this large department store had their blow out sale he would attend and make off with several products free of cost. Syd never stopped trying to get back a bank work. Finally  his former bank called him. They sent him to the same branch from which he had been fired four years ago. He told us that evening that only about five former staff members were still there. However on Friday of the same week I saw him dressed in casual clothes. He told me that on Thursday he had been sum

THE FIGHT

My old friend Elroy Reddy told me that two weeks into his high school life at Mc Cauley High, Cal Evans came to fight him. He was standing up in class. School was over for the day and he was getting ready to go home. Most students had already left. He was there when he felt a blow in his left side. He spun around and there was Cal. "So you want to take away my girl?" Cal fired a fist at him again and he ducked. The two of them then began to trade punches. Elroy said that he had fought in primary school but Cal's punches were heavy. He grunted at the force of the boy's punches. Finally just as he was about to finish off Cal some bigger boys pulled them apart. Elroy said that he didn't understand why Cal came to fight him. He hardly knew the girls he was accusing him of taking from him. Some boys who knew of Cal's volatile temper tried to get them to fight again but it never materialized. Elroy believed that the real reason was that Cal having felt the power of

Glengoffe Days

Glengoffe Days is my books of poems, thirty two of them in all. My favorite ones are, Ben's Back, We want back our Surnames and Lament of the Taino Man. I encourage readers to get a copy of this book. It will male good reading. I am at the moment finishing two plays plus dusting off another. I am also trying to finish of a novel and a book of short stories.

My novel, Uptown Lovers

Not a lot of persons have been buying my book, Uptown Lovers. In my estimation it is a great book. I would love for dozens of persons to read it and give me a feedback. It it might be the cost of the paperback but it is now on Amazon Kindle.

My Book Ratings

My ratings is taking a dive. The ratings for my books continue to nosedive. I must be one of the worst writers on Amazon. I really love writing and will not be giving up. I know that I've written some interesting stories but readers aren't buying. Although I'm in full time employment I still find time to write. My problem is that self published books are very expensive. But if you can't afford the paperback why not go for Kindle.

My Plays

I can write plays, poems, short stories and novels. I like the short story best and the novel second best. The short story is the easiest because it can be of any length. Writing the novel can be very tedious. I would really like my readers to read my books and give me some reviews on Amazon.

Publishing my Books

I have resorted to publish my books on Create Space and Amazon Kindle because it is very easy to do so. I find the other publishers too difficult plus I don't have the money to go the professional route. I an not making any money right now but I'm hoping that I'll hit the jackpot one of these days with a best seller.

Ben'n back

I wrote this poem about two different headmasters. One was called Ben and the other Sarco. Both men were quite the opposite of each other. Sarco was the easygoing retiring headmaster. Ben was the abrasive type. We first met Sarco when Ben took leave to run politics.Us boys and I suppose the girls too had a whale of a time. Five years later Ben was off to run politics again and Sarco was back. Nothing had changed and we again had a whale of a time. Three months later Ben returned and put us in our places.

Transport Gridlock Whenever it Rains

Why do we have a transport gridlock in Kingston whenever it rains. A bout two weeks ago it rained and I arrived at the Half Way Tree transport center to find it bursting at the seams. We were there for more that an hour with only a trickling of Portmore buses arriving in the center. Finally a Premium bus # 308 arrived and many of us took it. I am glad that they are going widen Constant Spring and Hagley Park Roads. This will help with the traffic congestion. A lot of the congestion has to do with traffic in New Kingston that probably what is needed are a few fly over roads.

St. Mary's College 2017 Football (Manning Cup) Season

My former high school, St. Mary's College is having probably their worst run in the Manning Cup.They seem destined not to earn a single point this season. In recent years they have not been making much progress. I remembered a time when they competed in the DaCosta Cup and had some commendable performances. I am wondering if the competition is too strong for us.

My Book of Poems

I have now published a book of poetry, Glengoffe Days. It is a tribute to my hometown of Glengoffe. It consist of thirty two poems. I am by no means a poet. I will soon be publishing two of my plays. Not many persons are writing or paying tribute to their hometown. I hope persons will read it and like my poetry.

Book Reviews

A small number of persons have been buying my books. I should like to tell them thanks. I wouldn't mind getting some reviews on Amazon. Even if  they are bad I wouldn't mind since it would make me a better writer. At the moment I have several works lined us for release. I wouldn't mind being a full time writer but at the moment I don't think I'm that good.
