THE FIGHT

My old friend Elroy Reddy told me that two weeks into his high school life at Mc Cauley High, Cal Evans came to fight him. He was standing up in class. School was over for the day and he was getting ready to go home. Most students had already left. He was there when he felt a blow in his left side. He spun around and there was Cal. "So you want to take away my girl?" Cal fired a fist at him again and he ducked. The two of them then began to trade punches. Elroy said that he had fought in primary school but Cal's punches were heavy. He grunted at the force of the boy's punches. Finally just as he was about to finish off Cal some bigger boys pulled them apart. Elroy said that he didn't understand why Cal came to fight him. He hardly knew the girls he was accusing him of taking from him. Some boys who knew of Cal's volatile temper tried to get them to fight again but it never materialized. Elroy believed that the real reason was that Cal having felt the power of his punches didn't want to tangle with him again.
