Uptown Lovers-Another Perspective

UPTOWN LOVERS-Another Perspective by Austin Mitchell

I first wrote Uptown Lovers several years ago as The Uptowners. It was filled with a lot of sexual escapades. I did a lot of editing and cut out a lot of love scenes. The two principal characters are Stewart Brown and Morgana Simmonds.  The story opens with Morgana’s send off party as she leaves to study in the United States. She gets a promise from Stewart that he will behave during her three year sojourn abroad. Morgana suspects that he’s a player and that is why she’s so nervous about going away. She knows about one of his girlfriends, April English and they’ve had many quarrels over him. Morgana hadn’t even landed in America before Stewart starts with April and a new girl, Bobbette Greene. A year later, Morgana is back home to attend her father’s funeral. She hears abut Stewart’s many escapades with several women. She writes him a letter and ends the relationship. She takes up with a Jamaican guy but the relationship doesn’t last. In the meantime Stewart is still playing the field with April and Bobbette and several other women. Bobbette and April have repeatedly clashed over him.
After Morgana and her Jamaican/American boyfriend broke up, she decided not to date anybody  else before returning home. Stewart hears that she is single and calls her up and persuades her to resume their friendship.
So Morgana returned home to be with Stewart again. They soon become engaged, although no date is set for their marriage. April flees the island for the United States and Bobbette swears never to talk to him again.
It doesn’t take long for Morgana to realize that Stewart will never change. She is caught in a quandary. Should she stay and fight the competition of move on?
The rest of the story unfolds as readers dive into the book. Apart from the main characters there are some very interesting character whom you will meet as you read the book.

Characters:
Brad Newman returned home and fell in love with Morgana Simmonds, who is engaged to the cheating Stewart Brown. Realizing just how hopeless his love for Morgana is, Brad drops his longtime girlfriend, Dania Reid, and pursues Jenna Marsden only to realize that all that glitters isn’t gold.

Rick Graham returned home to work in his father’s firm. He falls for Morgana’s equally fabulous sister, Beverly, but his long time and strong-willed girlfriend, Celia, will have none of it and is prepared to fight for her man.
