Chapter Three

Sunday: January 30, 2005-Morgana is talking to her mother, Monique and her sister, Bev, about the changes that will be taking place at her office with the arrival of Brad Newman and Rick Graham, two new vice presidents. Her mother and sister want to know about the two guys. Bev expresses a desire to meet her sister’s two new colleagues.

Monday: January 31, 2005- Brad Newman and Rick Graham arrive at the offices of Newman and Graham Limited for their first day on the job. They meet the beauty, Morgana Simmonds, who was employed by bthe firm about three months previously as a manager. Rick invites her out for lunch but she refuses. They meet her sister,Beverly. During the week, both men try to get dates with Morgana. But she refuses. She also realizes that she know both of their girlfriends.

Saturday: February 5, 2005-Blake Morrison, the Managing Director of Newman and Graham Limited, holds a welcoming  home party for his three new staff members. Morgana, her mother, sister and aunt along with their spouses attend the party. Brad and his girlfriend, quarrel at the party over him paying too much attention to Morgana, but later reconcile. Brad gets to dance with Morgana. Bobbette also attends the party. Morgana and Stewart quarrel, he leaves the party and goes to sleep with Bobbette. Morgana goes home with her mother. She wonders where Stewart is. She decides not to phone him but is still suspicious that he and Bobbette are lovers. Morgana regrets not having driven her car to the party. She could have gone to Bobbette’s apartment and confronted him and maybe she would have found Bobbette there. Maybe if Stewart knew that she was mobile he wouldn’t have risked it with Bobbette. As it was it would be foolhardly for her to jump into her car and drive down to his apartment and it would hardly have been ethical of her to have asked Val to drop her down to his apartment.

Brad goes to sleep with Dania but they still got up in time for church. Rory, Bev’s boyfriend drops her home from the party. He wants her to go home with him but she refuses. BUBBLE'S BABY-An Excerpt

Bubbles’ Baby by Austin Mitchell As I drove into Creighton on my way to Latore’s Ridge a young lady waved me down. When I stopped the car and she came up to it, I recognized her as ‘Bubbles’ Kenton, one of my former students. “Teacher, can I beg you a ride to Rennals?” “Sure, Bubbles, get in.” I opened the car door for her and she got in. She had a young baby with her, but I noticed that she didn’t have a bag, although the baby was wrapped in a towel. “Your first baby, Bubbles?” I asked as I drove off the car. “He’s Leta’s baby, teacher. I don’t have any children yet. She’s gone for an interview in Kingston so she begged me to keep him for her.” I used to teach both Bubbles and Leta at Mc Cauley High School in Oakley district. Jamaica Creative Writer's Conference

How about a creative writers conference? This would bring together some of Jamaica's best creative writers to share ideas. I'm putting it out there because as far as I know there is not a lot going for creative writers. Can anybody make a living out of creative writing in Jamaica?
