The Constant Spring Market

I am deeply disappointed by the demolition of the Constant Spring market. My understanding is that there is space at the back of the market that could have accomodated a new building for the market. Few voices were raised in support of the vendors. From I was a youth, people have always been leaving my village to sell produce. They have used this to raise their children. I would encourage the vendors to start a Go Fund Me scheme and lobby the government for a piece of the land to erect a new market. Please visit the Austin G Mitchell pages at Amazon. Thank you.

Bubbles’ Baby by Austin Mitchell As I drove into Creighton on my way to Latore’s Ridge a young lady waved me down. When I stopped the car and she came up to it, I recognized her as ‘Bubbles’ Kenton, one of my former students. “Teacher, can I beg you a ride to Rennals?” “Sure, Bubbles, get in.” I opened the car door for her and she got in. She had a young baby with her, but I noticed that she didn’t have a bag, although the baby was wrapped in a towel. “Your first baby, Bubbles?” I asked as I drove off the car. “He’s Leta’s baby, teacher. Jamaica Creative Writer's Conference

How about a creative writers conference? This would bring together some of Jamaica's best creative writers to share ideas. I'm putting it out there because as far as I know there is not a lot going for creative writers. Can anybody make a living out of creative writing in Jamaica? I don't know but if anybody in Jamaica is making a living out of creative writing then they ought to be saluted.
