Kingston

I worked in Downtown Kingston twice and it was a wonderful experience. This was for a period of about five years. Kingston is an historic city. I remember a certain bookstores(it was more than a book store) that I enjoyed shopping at. There was a nearby garment store that I usually frequented. Unfortunately both are no longer in operation. Downtown, Kingston needs a lot if it is to be revived. For one thing the streets need to be cleaned and a stoppage be put to the running sewage water and the stench. Something needs to be done about those dilapidated buildings that simply litter the landscape.

BUBBLE'S BABY-An Excerpt

Bubbles’ Baby by Austin Mitchell As I drove into Creighton on my way to Latore’s Ridge a young lady waved me down. When I stopped the car and she came up to it, I recognized her as ‘Bubbles’ Kenton, one of my former students. “Teacher, can I beg you a ride to Rennals?” “Sure, Bubbles, get in.” I opened the car door for her and she got in. She had a young baby with her, but I noticed that she didn’t have a bag, although the baby was wrapped in a towel. “Your first baby, Bubbles?” I asked as I drove off the car. “He’s Leta’s baby, teacher. Jamaica Creative Writer's Conference

How about a creative writers conference? This would bring together some of Jamaica's best creative writers to share ideas. I'm putting it out there because as far as I know there is not a lot going for creative writers. Can anybody make a living out of creative writing in Jamaica?
