The Marge Vincent Story a synopsis by Austin Mitchell

When public health inspector, Dickie Young, met nurse, Marge Vincent, he knew that he wanted her. It was only that she was along with another man, Dillon Coombs. He has a business running in the village in addition to having several buses and taxis. Then rumors started flying that Dickie had naked photos of Marge adorning his bedroom. When Dillon and Marge confronted him, he denied it. Instead, he pointed fingers at Dillon. He claimed that he was spreading rumors on him because he feared that he would take away Marge from him. Dillon laughs him off by offering him a job as a conductor or driver on one of his buses. Dillon says he would get two pants, shoes and shirts every six months. Dicky in turn laughs him off and accuses him of trying to humiliate him. Dillon has several baby mothers and girlfriends. Dicky has a baby mother and a few girlfriends. He is also seeing two ladies in their late thirties. Dillon’s women are ganging up on Marge because they feel that she is using Dillon. They feel that she wants a man to marry before she leaves to work and further her nursing career abroad. Both Dillon and Dickie have let it be known that they are not the marrying kind. Dickie and his American girlfriend, Ingrid, are in reconciliation talks. They were seeing each other just over two years ago, but broke up because of the distance. Ingrid calls Dickie’s former girlfriend, Aileen, and warn her off. Aileen tells her that she left Dickie because he was broke and had no money. In fact, she has more money than him. She said that Dickie was so broke that she might have to send money to help him out. Ingrid countered that she was just showing on Dickie because he had left her. Rumors continue to fly that Marge has left Dillon and wars even pregnant for Dickie. Dillon and Marge confront him about it but he vehemently denied being the source of the rumor. Instead, he said that Dillon was targeting him because he knows that Marge likes and wants to be along with him. Marge said that she would be crazy to leave a rich man like Dillon for poor, broke pocket Dickie. She said that he can’t even maintain his car, wear good clothes or shoes. Dickie said that all that might soon change as he was thinking of going into commercial farming. He said he would soon be as big as Dillon. Both Marge and Dillon scoffs at his commercial farming claims. Dillon said that he will always be poor. The argument about the nude photo comes up again and Dillon and Marge point fingers at Aileen. She denies it and instead point her fingers at Dillon. She said that both Marge and Dillon were big stinking liars. One of Dickie’s women, Camille, says that both Marge and her assistant, Jean, were along with Dickie before he came to Keswick, but somehow broke up with him. He was now using the nude photos to blackmail them into going to bed with him again. Of course Dickie denied everything and said he only met Marge and Jean since he came to Keswick.
