Cricket, lovely cricket

Cricket as a game is now played in many formats. There is Test cricket, T-20 cricket, fifty (50) overs or one day cricket. There is also thirty overs cricket or cricket games over a week-end.Cricket is changing because of the demanding public who are spending their money to watch games and also the sponsors. Several purists detest T-20 cricket, claiming that it is not cricket. Indeed several former players turned commentators have refused to comment on this format of the game. Sponsors are no longer prepared to sponsor games and see empty stands. It was this that brought in the fifty over version of the game. There is talk that this version might be phased out leaving only the T-20 version and Test cricket. There are plans to play a few games of the Caribbean Premier League in the USA. This would be very good as some cricket playing countries might decide to play a few of their T-2O games in the USA. Please visit the Austin G Mitchell pages at Amazon for a look at my books.
