Should Jamaica be a Republic

I think most persons agree that Jamaica should be a republic. That means that we would replace the Governor General. Mot persons are divided as the type we would have. Trinidad is a republic with a ceremonial President as Head of State. The Prime Minister is the head of the government and is elected as are all the Members of the House of  Representatives. Countries like the United States have an elected President as head of State. Both the House of Representatives and the Senate are elected. In Jamaica only members of the House of Representatives are elected and our Senators are nominated. I think we will probably go the way of Trinidad.

Bubbles’ Baby by Austin Mitchell As I drove into Creighton on my way to Latore’s Ridge a young lady waved me down. When I stopped the car and she came up to it, I recognized her as ‘Bubbles’ Kenton, one of my former students. “Teacher, can I beg you a ride to Rennals?” “Sure, Bubbles, get in.” I opened the car door for her and she got in. She had a young baby with her, but I noticed that she didn’t have a bag, although the baby was wrapped in a towel. “Your first baby, Bubbles?” I asked as I drove off the car. “He’s Leta’s baby, teacher. Jamaica Creative Writer's Conference

How about a creative writers conference? This would bring together some of Jamaica's best creative writers to share ideas. I'm putting it out there because as far as I know there is not a lot going for creative writers. Can anybody make a living out of creative writing in Jamaica? I don't know but if anybody in Jamaica is making a living out of creative writing then they ought to be saluted.
